Dell EMC MD1420: Affordable, High Capacity Direct-Attach Storage Solution
Using state-of-the-art technology within the MD Series of direct-attach storage (DAS) enclosures, the Dell EMC MD1420 provides a reasonably priced storage expansion solution with 12Gbps SAS connectivity for enhanced server storage capacities and expanding application workloads.
Strong Capacity and Perfect Performance
Complementing the newest PowerEdge servers using PERC H830 or H840 RAID controllers for optimal I/O speeds, the MD1420 is built to satisfy significant storage and performance needs. Designed for data-intensive uses including digital video and database management, the MD1420 provides flexible data tiering options supporting NL-SAS, SAS, and SSD drives. The MD1420 expands up to 8 enclosures for a total of 192 drives, therefore effectively satisfying high-capacity storage needs with a 2U form factor allowing 24 2.5-inch drives per enclosure.
Smooth Integration and Management
Built with PowerEdge technologies, the MD1420 reduces spare component costs by using the same hot-swappable drives, fans, and power supplies as PowerEdge servers. Optional self-encrypting drives (SEDs) add a layer of data security including Secure Erase, which permanently eliminates data upon drive repurposing or decommissioning.
Intel OpenManage Integration
Driven by iDRAC, Dell OpenManage system management helps the MD1420 to simplify the management of critical server, storage, and networking chores across multi-hypervisor and OS settings. Use a single interface to manage internal and outside storage for best performance, simplifying navigation, and lightening system resource load.
Together with Dell's storage-optimised PowerEdge servers, the MD1420 presents a strong, reasonably priced DAS alternative with scalable, safe, efficient storage fit for Microsoft settings' expanding data needs.
